Today Congressman David Wu announced he would resign from office.
He released the following statement:
"The wellbeing of my children must come before anything else. With great sadness, I therefore intend to resign effective upon the resolution of the debt-ceiling crisis. This is the right decision for my family, the institution of the House, and my colleagues."
"It has been the greatest privilege of my life to be a United States Congressman. Rare is the nation in which an immigrant child can become a national political figure. I thank God and my parents for the privilege of being an American."
Being that the country will default on its loans with in a week, Wu's actual resignation date should be within that time-frame as well.
The teenaged woman (she's supposedly over 18) who Wu had an "unwanted sexual encounter" with, according to her, is still unidentified.
But yesterday Democratic House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi called for an ethics investigation into the scandal.
The threat of that investigation obviously proved too much for Wu to bear (or should we say tiger?).
