In what's being described as a "tragic accident," a driver in a replica Yellow Cab taxi used in the reality TV show Cash Cab struck and killed a pedestrian in Vancouver, B.C., on Friday.

The Vancouver Sun reports that the cab was not in the process of filming an episode when it struck the 61-year-old man, and that the driver stayed at the scene until ambulances arrived and took the victim, still alive, to the hospital where he died.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim and his friends and his family," said Andrew Burnstein, the president of Castlewood Productions which films Discovery Channel's Cash Cab.

"My heart also goes out to the driver of the vehicle, a member of our technical staff, who is shaken and devastated by this tragic accident, and our entire team," he said in an e-mailed statement.

Not long before the Incident, Twitter user @SanaGoldan Tweeted the following along with a photo:

It was later determined that this was indeed the cab involved in the accident.

The victim has not been identified, as his family members are still apparently awaiting notification.
