Prosecutors say that ex-Franklin High School girls' volleyball coach Nicholas T. Chou knew full well that having sex with a 15-year-old girl on the team would get him in deep trouble. That's why they say he told her to "keep it on the down-low."
The P-Ireports that Chou has been charged with child rape after what prosecutors say were several rendezvous between the former volunteer assistant coach and the unnamed 15-year-old girl at Chou's apartment.
On several occasions, Chou took the girl to his apartment, where they spent the night on at least one occasion, she told police.
"Chou told her that he could get in a lot of trouble because it's illegal for them to have sex," the Federal Way detective told the court. "Chou told [her] to 'keep it on the down-low.'"
Apparently Chou told investigators that their relationship went on for some time, until he supposedly broke it off after the girl repeatedly visited him at the T-Mobile store in the Westfield Southcenter Mall where he works to ask him if he was dating any other girls.
The girl says that he knew how old she was during their entire relationship.
Now Chou, 23, is charged with third-degree rape of a child--a charge he could have avoided if he were four years younger (or dated girls who aren't in high school).
