In a perfect world every "dairy ambassador" would spend his or her off-hours chugging pint glasses of whole milk and wearing whipped-cream underwear to the cheese shop. Well, this is not a perfect world. And Laurel Gordon, Grays Harbor County's Dairy Ambassador, is not a perfect ambassador.
In fact, she can't even drink milk because she's lactose-intolerant.
Gordon, whose older sisters also held the title of Grays Harbor County dairy ambassador, developed lactose intolerance two years ago, The Daily World of Aberdeen reports.
Unless the 18-year-old takes special pills, her body is unable to digest milk. She mostly opts for soy milk.
"I'm kind of a joke around my friends," she tells the newspaper.
Gordon has been Grays Harbor County's leche lady for two years, and hopes to become the statewide dairy ambassador (yes, there is such a thing). But whether her intolerant stomach will put her out of the running remains to be seen.
