The Renton Herbalist's Chocolope strain is some very potent marijuana.
?If you're an authorized medical marijuana patient in the Seattle metro area who is into connoisseur-grade cannabis, The Renton Herbalist can deliver to your door.

Not content with pedestrian pot, Sean, The Renton Herbalist himself, told me "I'm a patient helping other patients obtain quality medicine. All my medicine is 100 percent organic, flushed with purified water for 10 days prior to harvest to remove any built-up fertilizer, air dried and cured in mason jars till it reaches your hands."

Not surprisingly, the extra care and attention pay off. Sean's herbs offer both the exquisite organic taste and the powerful effects sought by patients who, like Oscar Wilde, have simple tastes - they're looking for the best.

I tried four strains from The Renton Herbalist - Chocolope, Warlock, White Widow and Purple Kush -- and all four have something to offer.

First up was the Chocolope, an almost pure sativa resulting from a cross of Cannalope x Chocolate Thai (and yes, I know how to spell "cantaloupe"; the strain's name is a pun on "cannabis"). Chocolope retains more of the flavor of Chocolate Thai, but mixed with some of the fruity sweetness of Cannalope.

Its choco-smokey flavor and dreamy mental effects make it memorable, but if you are sensitive to potent marijuana, be aware that Chocolope will get you quite high indeed. Which, of course, means that for many of us it's a euphoric blast and a welcome respite from illness.

Warlock is an indica-dominant cross with fat, solid buds and a fruity, almost melonish, aroma.
?The second strain, Warlock, is an indica dominant cross with fat, solid buds and an invitingly sweet, fruity, almost melonish, aroma. When toked, the herb reveals hints of sour candy and manifests a stimulatingly productive cerebral high (considered by many a sativa characteristic, and probably due to that factor in Warlock's genetic heritage). If you're looking to accomplish a mental task, this weed goes quite well with a cup of coffee. And if you're struggling with ADHD or depression, Warlock is definitely worth a try.

Third up is the legendary White Widow, with the reputation of being one of the most potent marijuana strains in the world. White Widow is a 60 percent sativa/40 percent indica and is bred for its awesome wallop. It took the Amsterdam coffee shops by storm when it was introduced in the mid 1990s.

White Widow's reputation for excellence is well deserved, including smell, flavor, and effects. Its chunky buds smell piney in the jar, and reveal a complex symphony of fruity and coniferous terpenes when toked. There's a reason that for many, White Widow set the standards for quality marijuana when it won the Cannabis Cup back in 1995, and that is the undeniable power of its high. It wraps comfortingly around you, like your favorite blanket or Death Cab for Cutie song.

Last up is Purple Kush, a pure indica strain originating in California. While The Renton Herbalist's P. Kush has only a few scant hints of purple in its tight nugs, the indica heritage comes across loud and clear in its profound body stone, offering relief from pain, depression and insomnia. The sage and citrus smell of the buds becomes a sweet, earthy, almost grapey taste when toked. The high is deep, strong, and sustained.

The Renton Herbalist offers delivery to an area from Greenlake in the north to Tacoma in the south, and as far east as Bellevue and Puyallup. Deliveries can be made from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and from 10 to 5 on Saturdays.
