?Emerald City Compassion Center wants to know what you like--and once they know, they'll remember. The medical-marijuana dispensary, open since December at 16053 Aurora Ave. N., just started a new system in which they send text messages letting patients know when their favorite strains or products are in stock.

The receptionist was quick to guide me through the necessary paperwork upon my arrival, and it was only minutes before I was able to enter the bud room where my friendly budtender showed me a nice variety of strains, edibles, tinctures, cannabutter, salves, and balms.
One of the most popular items at the shop--and what Emerald City calls their most potent edible product--is Seymour Green's Ice Cream, available in 16 flavors including chocolate, Reese's Peanut Butter, coconut, and cherry. There's no guarantee all flavors will be in stock on any given day, but your chances of getting the flavor you want are improved if you show up on Tuesday (delivery day) or Wednesday.
As a new member, I got a delicious dark Belgian chocolate Canna Crunch Herbal Chocolate Bar free of charge. Emerald City considers three pieces to be a normal serving, but I had half the bar (six pieces) at the time, with favorable results.
If you prefer salty treats, the shop has medicated Goldfish crackers, as well as microwave "potcorn" along with "herbed" red sauce for your pasta.
?Around 20 marijuana strains are typically in stock, with donation levels from $8 to $12 per gram.

Emerald City has a good selection of pure indicas--including Afghani x Pakistani, Coffee Kush, Grape Ape, Pot of Gold, Purple Arrow, and Purple Wheelchair, which all provide options for those seeking effective relief from pain and insomnia.
Besides the pure strains, indica-dominant hybrids including Blue Cheese, Blueberry Kush, God Bud, Kush, Snow White, Sweet Tooth, and Wheelchair are also available.
Sativa-dominant hybrids include AK-47, Blue Dot, Headband, Super Lemon Haze, Trainwreck, and White Widow. Cheese and PermaFrost are both listed as 50/50 hybrids, carrying equal measures of indica and sativa genetic heritage.
I selected a $12 indica, Grape Ape; a $12 sativa dominant, AK-47; and a $10 per gram sativa dominant, Super Lemon Haze, for comparison purposes.
The Grape Ape was, as advertised, a powerful indica, quickly quelling aches and pains and powerfully stimulating the appetite. There was only a hint of grape flavor to the buds when smoked, but I have no complaints. After all, the proof is in the puffing, i.e., the medicinal effects, which were solid, salutary, and sustained.
The AK-47's rich fruity aroma proclaimed its genetic heritage, which was quickly confirmed upon smoking. AK is absolutely one of the most delicious (tasting and smelling) marijuana strains around. The fact that it is also very potent--and that it's a sativa strain, making it a good choice for daytime relief--are likely factors in its continuing popularity among patients.
The Lemon Haze was also top quality, with a thick, sugary coating of trichomes resulting in a powdery kief shower raining down on the rolling surface when breaking up the dried buds.
