UPDATE 3:06 p.m.: KNDO TV tweets that "The AMBER alert has been canceled. Lewis County Sheriff's Deputies say the suspect is in custody and the child is safe in Bonney Lake."

Dustin Reed, 35, kidnapped his 4-year-old son Jacek from his mother at a women's shelter in Chehalis this morning, prompting an AMBER Alert and the circulation of his ugly-ass mugshot.

The incident took place at 9:15 this morning, according to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and various news reports.

Reed grabbed his kid as he was walking down the sidewalk and threw him into a 1995 Black Infiniti G20 with license plate 617 TQP. Reed then sped off, hitting a man who was a friend of the child's mother. Reed and his baby's mother were separated, and she was reportedly at the counseling center to file a restraining order against him.

The Amber Alert website says Reed is "on antidepressants and has access to weapons." KIRO news describes him as "an active-duty military member who is currently on leave." Here are the physical descriptions:

Jacek Reed is white with brown hair, blue eyes, 3 feet 1 inch tall, 44 pounds, and has a buzz cut and a red mark under his left eye. He was wearing a blue-gray Mario T-shirt, blue flannel jacket, blue jeans and blue boots.

Reed is white with brown hair, blue eyes, 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs 160 pounds.

And here's that mugshot again:

Chehalis is located about halfway between Seattle and Portland on I-5, so the Amber Alert extends to Oregon as well.

As someone who grew up in Chehalis, it's worth noting that Reed's haircut and peach-fuzz goatee have never gone out of style for a certain segment of the population in that part of the state. The dude is reportedly from Fort Knox, Kentucky, but that seems appropriate since Chehalis is basically the Kentucky of Western Washington.

If you spot the guy, call the Chehalis Police Department at 360-748-8605 or the Washington State Patrol at 360-449-7950.
