Where Are You on Southern Poverty Law Center's "Hate Map"?

Pop quiz, Washington! Are your closest racist neighbors the Aryan Nations 88, the Nation of Islam, or the Northwest Hammerskins? Up until now you might not have known. But now you can, thanks to the cartographers at the Southern Poverty Law Center.

They've created the country's first (that we know of) "hate map." It shows where most of the nation's racist groups are located--presumably so separatist RV enthusiasts can better plan their summer road trips.

Washington, it turns out, has 13 racist groups, mainly of the skinhead variety. They are: American National Socialist Party, Aryan Nations 88, Christ's Gospel Fellowship, Crew 38, Nation of Islam, National Black Foot Soldier Network, National Socialist American Labor Party, National Socialist Movement, Northwest Front, Northwest Hammerskins, Sigrdrifa, St. Michael's Parish/Mount St. Michael, and United Northern and Southern Knights of the Ku Klux Klan.

That's not like California, the runaway leader in bigotry with 68 different racist groups.

The SPLC's map doesn't come with an embed code, so you'll have to check it out yourself.

But it's totally worth it.

Although something tells me that my closest hate group, the Nation of Islam, won't let me join.
