It's unlikely that Lorne Michaels will be giving Rep. Rick Larsen a call to host Saturday Night Live after Thursday's performance at the "Funniest Celebrity in Washington" stand-up competition. Still, as far as balding politicians with hip-mounted BlackBerries go, he's pretty damn funny.
Washington's newly and narrowly reelected 2nd District Congressman delivered about nine minutes worth of jokes that managed to steer clear of any "with the 'F-word' or about erections."
Instead, his routine included several pointy jabs at his own party and President Obama, saying at one point that "no one's at the White House tonight. But how is that different from the past two years?"
He also cracked wise about the "toughest job in the world," which he said was the position of third-in-command of Al-Qaida, reminding that: "we've killed that guy like seven times."
Larsen won second place overall in the competition and was beat out by head Obama speechwriter and pit-stain fashionista Jon Lovett, who' s spot-on impression of Arianna Huffington had the crowd rolling.
