For nearly 18 months now, Spc. Bowe Bergdahl of Hailey, Idaho has been held hostage by the Taliban in Afghanistan. He's popped up in videos three other times, sporting Afghan-style clothes and looking thin and sometimes beaten. Now, a new video has surfaced showing Bergdahl. And while he appears to be alive, he's also no closer to being freed than when he was first captured in Eastern Afghanistan in June of 2009.
Bergdahl, who serves in the Army's 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment, is not the main focus of the short new video reported today by the AP. The footage also shows some weapon-toting militants milling about and resting in the squat-sit positions that they seem to love so much.
But when he does appear, he's got bags under his eyes and a scrape on his face and looks like he hasn't had a decent night's sleep in, well, 18 months.
Here's the footage published by the UK's Telegraph.
