Last month we brought you the story of Patti Langdon, a Tacoma woman who'd taken out the same classified ad for 43 years straight in hopes it'd one day bring her back the son she'd given up for adoption. Patti's story ended happily after her son saw her ad and tracked her down. Now, thanks to her tale, another mother and her long-lost child have been reunited.
Shortly after posting the story, a reader named Dorothy Ann Alomia left a comment:
This story, breaks my heart cause I am also in search of my birth mother. I was born 1-2-1968 in a New York City Hospital located in the Bronx.
Per the story my mother was under 14yrs of age (possible 13) also unwed. I was premature, and do to complication it was mentioned that I was not going to live. Here I am at 42 yr of age, single with 4 children. I had attempted to locate my family, but every step I take leads to disappointment, such as my orginal birth certificate burned due to an arson fire at the storage company (Iron Mountain).
Biological mother names is Marleen Holmes ( as much as I remember)
I am so glad that there is hope for someone, cause it will be one less suffering person.
Good Luck to Patti and Todd. God Bless you both
Then, yesterday, another reader named Marlene Holmes issued a happy follow-up:
FYI - the article posted on June 24, where Patti Langdon found her son and Dorothy Alomia made a comment about seaching for her mother...through people 1 named Gary Gray helped Dorothy find her mother...me!! I had been searching for Dorothy on and off since she turned 18. However, between the dead ends and the red tape I was beginning to resign myself to the fact that at 41 maybe she didn't want to see me. But even when it seemed as it was lost cause, I saw the show "The Locator" and decided to give it another try; I emailed "The Locator" only to be denied and referred to other avenues and then you came along. Gary helped her with the information and she called me the next day. All we have to do now is save up some money so that we can see each other in person, she lives in Florida and I live in New York.
Well garsh. It's like a got-damned "Touched By An Angel" episode in here.
