About Dino Rossi's race against Patty Murray: first things first. In Dino's path at the moment is a 6-5 chunk of farmland called Clint Didier. And one of the last opponents who dared step into Clint's field of vision got taken out with a memorable open-field block.
That feat of sporting manliness is a big part of Didier's campaign - his "Meet Clint" bio is one pigskin moment after another, along with his "game plan" for America.
So what does Didier think of Rossi's announcement yesterday that Dino is challenging Murray for the U.S. Senate - after, of course, he polishes off Didier and a roster of other Republicans in the primary? You guessed it.
Washington Redskins coach Joe Gibbs always told his players that competition brings out the best in everyone. So in response to Dino Rossi's announcement as a Senatorial candidate from the State of Washington, I say "welcome".
I've been up against tough competition most of my life. As a NFL player, I competed at the highest level and was part of two winning super bowl teams. As a farmer, I face a tough challenge every day, Mother Nature. I don't always win this match-up, but I never give up.
He adds: "We now have a GOP established candidate, or a citizen statesman who is a part of the grassroots movement and wants to work shoulder-to-shoulder with the people. Even with this new addition to the race, I hope the team effort by all the declared candidates will work toward achieving the main goal - replacing Patty Murray."
So voters can pick their GOP MVP from a more level playing field and...sorry, it's infectious.
