Showing that the reach of Apple goes far beyond the tech industry, Toyota today recalled 270,000 Priuses in the U.S. and Japan only days after co-founder Steve Wozniak said the carmaker's problems with unintended acceleration extended to the latest version of its popular hybrid.
When the Woz speaks, multinational giants listen.
OK. So that's a lie. Toyota wasn't responding to Wozniak. They recalled the Priuses because this morning the Transportation Department opened an investigation into reports that some owners experienced momentary loss of braking power when going over uneven roads.
So whereas millions of Toyotas have been recalled over the last year because of mysterious problems with the gas, the other pedal seems to be acting up as well. That's not going to be good for business.
