Joel Connelly at the P-I apparently keeps his radio on during the workday. And thank goodness for that.
Apparently this was the only time Sarah Palin had to decide whether or not to pardon an Alaskan citizen.
Because today Sarah Palin told conservative talk show host Lars Larson that while her "heart goes out" to Mike Huckabee, she still thinks the former Governor of Arkansas made a "horrible decision" in 2000 when he commuted the sentence of Maurice Clemmons, a man who would go on to murder four Lakewood police officers.
A larger, sic filled bloc of Palin's comments after the jump."Most Alaskans know me well enough to know that I don't have a whole lot of mercy for the bad guys. I'm on the good guys' side. I'm all about redemption and recovery and reform and all that. But I will always error on the side of punishing even stricter, even harder on the bad guys."
Palin, who will most likely compete with Huckabee for the 2012 Republican Presidential nomination, told Larson she was "never in a position of deciding whether to grant clemency to a prisoner" during her time as Governor of Alaska. Which makes sense, considering she resigned before finishing her first term, unlike Huckabee who served for a decade.
