Our famously bright, sunny weather may have us leading the league in sunglasses sales, but King County-ers aren't enjoying that hot weather by taking smoke breaks--unless they're working the types of jobs that tend not to be as friendly towards smoke breaks. The County just released new figures, and overall, smoking is at an all-time low, with just 10.6% of County residents over 18 reporting that they smoke. Sadly, the rates are much higher among those with low incomes and/or without high-school diplomas (23.4% and 26.2%, respectively). Apparently, cigarette smoking is pretty regressive. Maybe Washington will start taxing it more.
