A few weeks ago, Vernal Coleman noted that King County loves its painkillers--in fact, they're the leading cause of drug-related death here. (We also learned that Washington State as a whole is fond of the drugs.) Now, the Snohomish County Health Department announces that poisoning, particularly via prescription opioids (i.e. painkillers) is the leading cause of accidental death in Snohomish County. And it turns out the same is true in King County. Which makes it all-the-sadder that the annually proposed overdose prevention bill never got a floor vote this year, despite surviving Pam Roach's Desperate Housewives and Enumclaw Horse Sex Case-inspired concerns.
