A survey of the last two days in my inbox finds nine mass-missives from the Mike McGinn and Greg Nickels campaigns, all about the deep-bore tunnel. McGinn calls the tunnel irresponsible, especially in light of a bad budget. He points out that Nickels said he wouldn't pursue a tunnel. Nickels says the surface/transit plan preferred by McGinn probably won't get state funding and will cost more. McGinn says it will cost less. And finally McGinn writes this:
Finally, if Greg Nickels feels so strongly about this, why doesn't he stand up for himself instead of hiding behind a campaign spokesperson? If Nickels wants to debate this in person, I'll meet him anytime, anywhere to have an open and public debate.
So what do you say, fellas? High Noon. A dusty street. Preferably on the Waterfront. Nickels can ride in on a light rail train. McGinn can ride in on a bike.
