"Game-Changing" Dreamliner to Fly This Year, Boeing Says

At this point, it's pretty much the aerospace giant that cried wolf, but despite false-starting more frequently than teenage boys on prom night, Boeing says that this time it's for real: the Dreamliner will fly by the end of the year and be delivered to customers by the end of 2010, a mere 30 months after initially scheduled. Moreover, like the company's microwave missiles and its products generally, the Dreamliner will be "game-changing," says Boeing chief executive Jim McNerney. If by "game," he means "schedule," then we hold this truth to be self-evident. And it certainly would be game-changing if the second line went to Dixie instead of Everett, though that's not how we want to see the game changed in these parts.
