Amazon.com warehousers, fear for ye jobs. In a move that evokes man vs. machine stories as varied as John Henry and Blade Runner/Do Androids Dream of Electric Sleep?, web industrialist/Amazonian king Jeff Bezos is throwing money into robot research.
Amazon's venture capital arm, Bezos Expeditions, was among those contributing to the $7 million raised by the Heartland Institute, which says it is "combining the power of computers -- embodied in robots -- and the extraordinary intelligence of the American workforce, to increase productivity and revitalize manufacturing."
Here's hoping that when Amazon staffs its distribution centers with robots, it will clothe them in its famous Three-Wolf Moon T-shirts. That would be hot.
