Jan Drago has been attempting to make the mayoral campaign all about style, emphasizing things like her willingness to work collaboratively (and saying that incumbent Greg Nickels doesn't).
Nickels released his first campaign ad this week and he seems to be accepting Drago's frame for the debate. Rather than a "yeah, I'm aggressive, but I get things done" tack, Nickels leads off with what amounts to an apology. "As mayor, I've made my share of mistakes," he says over a soundtrack of easy-listening-esque guitar and piano. It appears to be an attempt not only to deflate the snowstorm issue, but to make himself seem a more cuddly city chief.
