Add Susan Hutchison to the growing list of King County Executive candidates who want to put the kibosh on the fledgling King County Ferry District and its prospective mosquito fleet. Says Hutchison in a just-issued statement, "County government needs to be on a meatloaf, not a steak diet."
The meatloaf is Metro buses, while the steak, of course, is expansion of a commuter fleet that currently includes the West Seattle and Vashon passenger ferries. Like Fred Jarrett, Hutchison would at least keep existing routes intact, but only on a seasonal basis, in spite of the Ferry District's intent to expand the West Seattle Water Taxi to year-round service in 2010. For his part, Ross Hunter would sink all ships as soon as he's sworn into office.
