Mariners News: Lots of Bad, a Little Good

Brandon Morrow blew another save yesterday--his second in a row. After missing spring training with an injury and asking out of the starting rotation, the M's 2006 first-round pick has an ERA of 9.72 and clearly needs some sort of rest/re-set, probably in a role other than closing for the M's. (For back story and an excellent read, check out Jesse Froehling's cover story on Morrow.)

Of course, as Jeff at Lookout Landing points out, it's hard to pin the losses on Morrow when the Mariners' offense is ensconced in suckitude. Look at this run production.

Meanwhile, Erik Bedard, for whom the M's gave away the farm, looks like likely trade fodder. (Hopefully, Jack Z. got the memo.) Except now he looks injured.

Finally, a little good news: Felix Hernandez is maturing. Says the King:

A couple years ago I was a thrower, not a pitcher. Now I am a pitcher. I located all of my pitches today. I don't want to throw 97 in the middle. I just want to go at the corners and throw my two-seamers.
