Last week, I poked fun at Microsoft's Kumo for, well, having the unenviable task of trying to take search-engine market share from Google. And for being from the same people who brought us the Zune. And for having the name Kumo. Then, over the weekend, I encountered somebody who had knowledge of the product's upcoming release and he hadn't even heard of the name Kumo.
The product's real name, say Search Engine Land and Ad Age (which likes the product's chances), is likely to be Bing. Of the three non-Kumo contenders (Bing, Hook, and Sift), it's the only one whose domain name is registered to Microsoft. So instead of saying you Kumoed a person, you'll be able to say you Binged them. Which sounds kinda dirty. (via Microsoft Pri0)
