Do you have a grill? Do you need money? Local jeweler Porcello Estate Buyers has just the solution for you!
The jeweler sent out a press release this week declaring that, in light of high gold prices, "There's a new Gold Teeth Rush sweeping the nation". Our favorite part of the press release? The non-sequitur conclusion:
There are people like Cash Money Records CEO/CO-Founder Bryan "Baby" Williams, aka Birdman that had a $250,000 platinum with white gold-plated and diamond-encrusted crowns replaced with a $500,000 set of 18-karat white gold with some platinum crowns set with ascher-cut diamonds.
Indeed, there are people who have grills and who upgrade them. (There's also SW-favorite Venoy Overton, who has a grill of his own.) But what does that have to do with the rush?
In the original gold rush, everyone was trying to acquire gold, not unload it. But, of course, if you are looking to unload it, Porcello is there for you, via their website, www.sellyourgoldteeth.com.
The company also advertises that it will pay top dollar for the gold teeth of Lil Wayne, P. Diddy, and Flava Flav. Does this mean there's a premium on grills graced with celebrity DNA? We left messages with its corporate and local offices; rest assured we'll let you know when we find out.
So is this really a trend? Most pawn shops we talked to weren't interested in commenting for media, but clerk "Ryan" of Jaffe's Jewelry and Loans, a Burien pawn shop, said "there hasn't been much change. People who have gold, if they need money, they sell it. But there's not a lot of fluctuation." Then again, he conceded that Jaffe hasn't upped its prices to mirror the market, so maybe they're letting history pass them by.
