Seattle PR Firms Get Award for Running T. Boone Pickens' Energy Campaign

You may recognize the name T. Boone Pickens from his role as the biggest donor to the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, but he's engaged in a more ideologically ambiguous campaign these days. The Pickens Plan is a nationwide push for alternative energy development and funding--in areas in which Pickens owns a lot of development rights. For a great profile of the campaign, see this piece in our sister paper, the Houston Press.

The plan couldn't win Pickens a California initiative for $5 billion of taxpayer money toward alternative energy, but it did win a couple Seattle PR firms a share of the "Pollie" award from the American Association of Political Consultants. The AAPC gave the Pickens Plan the Pollie for "Campaign Excellence Award for Public Affairs Campaign of the Year". Among those working on the plan were Seattle PR firms Mercury and Gogerty Marriott. Bonus fun fact: Pickens' partner in the California initiative was none other than gay-marriage-hatin', former-Sonics-ownin' Seattle favorite, Aubrey McClendon.

Speaking of which, once again, we ask: how was T. Boone left off the ownership team? The guy is a huge donor to Oklahoma sports and Republican causes. He seems like a perfect fit.
