Advance notice that Ramin Bahrani, the acclaimed director of Man Push Cart and Chop Shop will appear to introduce his new Goodbye Solo this coming Wednesday at Northwest Film Forum. (The film begins its regular run next Friday, May 8 at the Varsity.) Of his latest work, which concerns the unlikely bond between a dying old man and his immigrant driver, our critic Scott Foundas recently wrote, "What's consistently remarkable about Bahrani's work is his steadfast refusal to peddle cheap sentiment, or to mine for hope where there is none to be found. His favored locations are urban streets and businesses that emphasize his characters' sense of displacement, the notion that home is something enjoyed by other people."
