Last week, Paul Allen's Experience Music Project/Science Fiction Museum Hall of Fame and Hall of Fame announced that it had hired a new director, Christina Orr-Cahall. While she has yet to take the reins, when she does, she'll have a few less employees under her charge.
"In the last week, a total of 16 positions were eliminated, some full-time, some part-time," says spokesperson Maggie Skinner. This brings the total number of employees down to 143. "The cuts were across all departments" and "were related to project and program scope reductions...It's something we've been working on to try to finalize the budget for months." Earned revenue remains strong, she insists, but the museum is seeing a decline in corporate, government, and foundation donations.
In other Allen-related layoff news, Vulcan-funded tech startup Evri recently laid off 25% of its staff.
