There's this guy who rides my bus on occasion. He's at least 50, and wears Hannah Montana buttons on his backpack. I don't know whether he's ever committed a sex crime, but I do know that he creeps me the fuck out.
The adults who populate this profile of 13-year-old basketball prodigy Allonzo Trier, who lives in Federal Way and plays for the Seattle Rotary Style AAU team, remind me of that guy with the Hannah Montana buttons. (Clark Francis in particular could use a shower). That said, Michael Sokolove's piece on Trier, the top-ranked sixth-grader in all the land, provides a wonderfully comprehensive look into the world of high-stakes youth basketball, and is well worth a read for any fan of the sport.
