The Chinook will be taking its understated sleekness to the San Francisco Bay
The Chinook and the Snohomish, the Washington State passenger-only ferries whose impending sale Chris Kornelis has covered here and here, have finally been officially sold.
The Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District of Larkspur, CA, bought them for $4 million and will put them to use in San Francisco Bay. (San Francisco has also imported other cities' old trolleys for use along the Embarcadero. They import really cool transit vehicles and we import really bad baseball free agents.)
According to the Kitsap Sun, "Proceeds of the sale will go to the King County Ferry District and likely will be used to provide passenger-only service between Vashon Island and Seattle."
