The market has already decisively reacted to the epic news in at least one respect: the demand for newspapers. It was impossible to find a New York Times for sale downtown this morning. The boxes were empty; Starbucks’ and stores sold out just as the first wave of workers hit town. Staffers at several places told me they were cleaned out by 8 or 8:30. Despite all the predictions of newspapers’ demise in the digital world, they’re obviously not dead yet. When history comes calling, you want to read all about it. In fact, you want your children to read all about it. And it’s not quite the same to save a screen shot.
