This is probably of interest only to the tiny fraction of people who watched "The Wire" (apologies to the rest of you who have had to endure the "you have to see it" raves), but a good chunk of the cast is campaigning for Barack Obama in North Carolina:
Chad Coleman (who plays Dennis "Cutty" Wise), Deidre Lovejoy (who plays Rhonda Pearlman), Jamie Hector (Marlo Stanfield), Clarke Peters (Detective Lester Freamon), Sonja Sohn (Detective Shakima "Kima" Greggs), Seth Gilliam (Sergeant Ellis Carver), and Gbenga Akinnagbe (Chris Partlow) will all appear at the backyard brunch on Sunday.
While it'd be great to be endorsed by youth mentor Cutty, who shares the Obama campaign's affinity for the Curtis Mayfield classic, "Move On Up", or by an upstanding cop like Greggs, it would be a little strange to get the thumbs-up from ruthless, amoral 'G's like Marlo Stanfield or Chris Partlow.
Perhaps the endorsements will open up a new line of attack for the McCain campaign: Obama's ties to corrupt black political machine dealmaker Clay Davis. Sheeeeit!
