Candidate for Lieutenant Governor, Marcia McCraw got The Seattle Times'blessing today because she "represents an opportunity for an infusion of new ideas and energy." (She's also a pro-choice, pro-gay rights, pro-medical marijuana Republican.) But the Times gave a weird backhand to McCraw in the process, alluding to the fact that her "complicated personal story" gave the paper pause with no mention of what said story is. An unnecessary dig at best without any information to back it up. The Times should know better.
McCraw may have had a tough time getting buy-in from some progressive groups, but she's recently been endorsed statewide by medical marijuana advocates like Cannacare and Green Cross. Says Douglas Hiatt, an attorney who defends medical marijuana patients:
As a Democrat I'm embarrassed by (incumbent) Brad Owen. He's not in step with progressive Washington and is an enthusiastic and misguided drug warrior.
