Secretary of State Sam Reed knows a thing or two about recounts. He certified the 2004 gubernatorial election after taking arrows from both parties (he's a Republican, but not particularly concerned by their ire.) So with one round of heated state election disputes ending in the courts under his belt, he should be more than ready to face the fall out from the top-two primary's first run at the polls.
Yes, he expects it to end up in court. And he's got his own re-election to worry about. But what the grandfatherly Reed is really excited about is his new Facebook page, complete with photos of people carrying signs declaring: "I Will Vote". There's also a MySpace account and a Twitter feed.
"Sam oozes hip," his staff apparently likes to say, followed by a joke about hips oozing, ha!
You can hear his entire interview with the Weekly here:
Mail-in primary ballots are already out. It's too late to register for the inaugural top-two if you haven't already, but for the general, get online and sign up to vote here.
