Islanders are getting all huffy again over a planned cell tower.
This time resident's of the south end are trying to stop Verizon's new pole along Rich Passage. They're saying the pole is unlawful, may cause health hazards, and obstructs their view. But, according to a story in yesterday's Kitsap Sun, Verizon Wireless isn't likely to get shut down.
This, of course, isn't the first time Island peeps have gone blue in the face over a cell tower on the Island with pathetic cell service. In last week's "The Bremerton/Bainbridge Divide" we recall the classic cell tower fight of the 1990, when residents said an AT&T tower would be an "attractive nuisance" that would entice high-school students to climb it; and that the tower would be "inconsistent" with the tone of its neighborhood.
