A few months ago, I wrote about a Discovery Institute fellow who was running for a seat on North Mason County?s school board without disclosing his ties to the intelligent design movement. Well, that fellow, John Angus Campbell, creamed his opponent in this week?s election. As of today, Campbell had 69 percent of the vote. While Campbell calls himself a "Darwinist," he has argued in numerous articles and a book called Darwinism, Design and Public Education that students ought to learn the "arguments for and against Darwin?s theory of evolution." He told me, however, that such beliefs had nothing to do with his reasons for running for school board and that he had no intentions of touching the curriculum. We?ll now see how true that is.
