Harrell also claims in the pamphlet the dailies' endorsement-- curious because both candidates had to turn in their messages for the general election brochure by Sept. 4, according to Seattle Ethics and Elections. Velázquez says her pamphlet info reflects her primary endorsement. (Remember there's a separate guide that goes out for the primary and candidates have an opportunity to update their messages for the general.)
Velázquez' campaign says they will correct future materials to show the dailies' change of heart. The Secretary of State's office, however, will not. They say the only oversight they provide on voter's guide statements is to fix grammatical errors and typos.
