Evangelical Joe Fuiten raises his profile again.

Bothell’s Cedar Park Church Pastor Joe Fuiten continues to raise his profile as the local point person for the evangelical right. Yesterday, he brought provocative author Dinish D’Souza to speak at his church during services (an interesting return to this region for D’Souza, who was controversially dis-invited to speak at Lakeside School a couple years ago.) Fuiten said he has long been “hooked” on D’Souza, and invited him now because of the Hoover Institute fellow’s just-released book, What’s So Great About Christianity. Here’s a podcast of D’Souza’s speech, in which he railed against what he called “a newly militant atheism,” expressed not just by the typical atheist “ACLU lawyers” of the past, but by prominent intellectuals who decry religion, post 9/11, as a source of violence and fanaticism.
