Rick Anderson noted this morning that Seattle's gone Obama-crazy. So who's among those putting him over the top in these parts? None other than Seattle City Council candidates Tim Burgess (pictured) and Bruce Harrell.
And Burgess, who's running for the seat now held by David Della, didn't just give, he gave big. Actually he gave too much, according to the Federal Election Commission. (Perhaps an overcompensation for all the static he's gotten in this lefty burg for the $1,000 smackers he gave to McCain in 2000?) Burgess donated $500 to Obama in April and another $2,300 a month later. The individual contribution limit for the primary and the general election is $2,300 each-- but Burgess' dough, all $2,800 of it, was marked for the primary. The FEC tells me the Obama campaign is onto this, that they've sent a note to our rookie council contender and that the extra cash has likely been directed toward the general.
Harrell, who's running against Venus Velázquez for the seat being vacated by Peter Steinbrueck, gave Obama $500 in June.
