A Few Questions Have Been Raised...

...about this week's Uptight Seattleite

...about this week’s Uptight Seattleite. Some readers have been puzzled by the reader questions, which seem unlike those usually addressed by our columnist. But that is very much by design. This week, we decided we’d have the Uptight answer questions from someone else’s mailbag. We thought, what if we found some more generic column, a kind of Ann Landers of the alt-weekly world, and came up with our own uniquely Seattle answers? Where is an advice column that would be most emblematic of the syndication of identical content across scores of alternative papers, one that’s most associated with “chain” papers, if you will? We found one called “Savage Love” that totally fit the bill. This author sells his column to just about every corporate-run weekly across the country—such as Coastal Beat, for example, the indie voice of Southwest Florida, which is owned by E.W. Scripps. But where to get an advance peek at the questions? Lucky for us, the columnist’s staff includes some unsavory characters who’ve made a career out of couriering information from one paper to the other. So, with the questions in hand, we had our Seattleite devise his distinctly Uptight responses. We hope you enjoy!
