Tequila at Targy's? Ishdontsinkso

Lies, damn lies, and the lying Stranger that tells them.

This week, the Stranger has a gonz feature meant to test the mettle of Seattle's cab companies. Here, Dan Savage, Ari Spool, Amy Kate Horn, and Jonah Spangenthal-Lee divide themselves into three teams, each riding a different cab company's cabs from one drinking establishment to another, in four increments, from Ballard to Sea-Tac. The second leg of this amazing race takes our brave, boozy Stranger superheroes from 9 lb. Hammer in Georgetown to Targy's Tavern atop Queen Anne. Once here, Team Orange (as in the cab) orders "$2.50 Coronas," while Team Farwest boasts of ordering "another round of tequila shots and beers."

Like hell they did.

I'm not sure if Targy's serves Coronas. I kind of doubt it -- but I'll give Team Orange the benefit of the doubt. What I do know is that Targy's, being one of only 43 remaining purebred taverns (as in beer & wine only) left in the city, definitely doesn't serve tequila -- or hard booze of any kind, for that matter. So either Team Farwest snuck a flask and shot glass into Targy's, or Team Farwest is lying. If it's the latter (which it probably is), anything less than a heartfelt correction in next week's Stranger would represent an ethical transgression of the sloppiest order.
