The New York Observer, a guilty alt-weekly/tabloid hybrid pleasure of mine which boasts the only truly insightful celebrity essays on the planet, has on its cover this week a piece which analyzes the depths to which newly-minted Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton is going to freeze out reporters on the campaign trail. To an extent, this mirrors the strategy of my former boss, Maria Cantwell, who's something of a Hillary protege. While I'm behind Obama at this stage of the game, I'll be behind Hillary if she gets the nomination -- just as I've been behind Cantwell (sorta). But as a reporter, the way these two Ice Queens treat the press is pure crap. Want to know why reporters don't like you, ladies? Because of your Gestapo media relations tactics, which really fly in the face of the left's supposedly unbridled support of the First Amendment. Knock it off.
