Roads & Bridges Magazine has finally come out with perhaps the most hotly anticipated Top 10 list of stalwarts of the year: North American bridge projects. The Benicia-Martinez Toll Bridge in California took top honors; and a viaduct replacement actually cracked the top 10 -- albeit in Baltimore (#7). But, lo and behold, our little Fremont Bridge "Approach Replacement" -- the months-long clusterfuck that's cut traffic capacity on the tiny Ship Canal drawbridge by half -- makes a regal appearance at #10. You go, girl! Next time I'm unable to get off Queen Anne Hill before 7 at night, I'll sit in traffic a little easier knowing that my delay is all in the name of top-ranked road maintenance.
