Walking for Washington, a business-funded political action committee, is hiring people to doorbell in Bellevue and Kirkland to help elect "conservative" state Supreme Court justices. A group of religious conservatives, the Faith and Freedom Network, sent an email today recruiting workers for Walking for Washington to earn $10 an hour for up to 24 hours a week by "doorbelling, surveying, & precinct canvassing" on behalf of conservative candidates for the state Supreme Court. No information was available on which candidates the group is supporting.
The phone number listed for the PAC, however, belongs to the Building Industry Association of Washington (BIAW), which is gunning for state Supreme Court Chief Justice Gerry Alexander and Associate Justice Susan Owens (both pictured). Currently Bellevue attorney John Groen, who has worked for the BIAW, is opposing Alexander and Republican state Sen. Stephen Johnson, R-Kent, is opposing Owens.
During the last state Supreme Court races the BIAW spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on behalf of another of their favorite attorneys: Jim Johnson. He won. Be afraid, be very afraid of a state Supreme Court, handpicked, and funded by these members of the extreme, radical right.
