Best Farmers Market: Ballard Farmers Market

The people have spoken.

It’s not every day that you hear about a farmer’s market inventing its own currency. Of course, Seattle is the exception to the rule. The Ballard Farmers Market found a way to work around the problem of some vendors not having a means with which to process credit cards, by making their own wooden money. It’s a small touch that makes the market just a little bit more perfect, a place to spend a Sunday morning with the family, perusing the seasonal produce and constantly changing vendor stock while taking in buskers and rubbing elbows with your fellow humans. 5300 Ballard Ave. NW, sfmamarkets.com

First runner-up: Pike Place Market

Second runner-up: U District Farmer’s Market

Honorable mention: West Seattle Farmer’s Market, Fremont Farmer’s Market
