Best Comedy Venue: Comedy Underground

The people have spoken.

The Comedy Underground is the sort of place a comedian might see his or her career blossom. For example, well-known acts such as Louis C.K., Jerry Seinfeld, and Ellen Degeneres appeared here early in their careers. However, the club also makes room for lesser-known local talent. Each Monday, the club hosts an open mic night, with call backs on Tuesday when the most hilarious contenders return for an encore. It’s probably the Comedy Underground’s reputation for high-quality comedy that’s kept it open in Pioneer Square since 1981. 109 S Washingon St., 628-0303

First runner-up: The Neptune theatre

Second runner-up: The Rendezvous

Honorable mention: Jai Thai, Parlor
