This year’s Seafair attendance was down by 27 percent. One major difference: the Blue Angels weren’t there.
According to the AP and KOMO, the next two Seafairs will be different, with the Blue Angels announcing today plans to appear at Seafair in 2014 and 2015. As the story notes, the development comes “due to an outreach plan which secured funding for community-based military activities.” Last year, of course, the Blue Angels missed Seafair thanks to sequestration-related federal budget cuts.
As the AP and KOMO story tells it:
The Seafair organization said the Blue Angels announced their schedule Tuesday at a convention in Las Vegas. The squadron also plans to perform in Seattle at the 2015 Seafair.
The Angels are scheduled to peform Friday, Aug. 1, through Sunday, Aug. 3, in 2014. Performances in 2015 are set for Friday, July 31, through Sunday, Aug. 2.
The news is undoubtedly good for any Seattlite not annoyed by war machines raging overhead and the traffic snarls they cause.
