At least that’s the presumed expletive - one of many, in fact - that one former University of Oregon football player used in a letter sent to Oregonian sports columnist John Canzano.
Here’s the backstory: On his blog today, Canzano published a letter he says was sent to him by an unnamed former Ducks football player, written after the former player attended last Saturday’s Ducks vs. UCLA Bruins game in Eugene. In the letter, the player expresses surprise and disgust with what he witnessed in the stands. Canzano asks the question: “Is the former player right? or is this an isolated experience?”
What’s the big deal? From the letter:
“My friend and I took our seats where I soon became acquainted with the most ignorant people in all of college football,” writes the former Ducks player, who Canzano says played in a recent BCS bowl game for the University of Oregon. “I will never attend a duck game as a spectator again. I am disgusted by duck fans and I will sit back and observe from afar with high hopes for the player’s success and understanding of their sacrifice, without having to hear the spoiled woes of ignorant fans. ... I will always love the ducks: my coaches, my teammates, my brothers and family. The rest... Go (expletive) yourselves.”
For Huskies fans, it’s certainly fodder for a good Tuesday-afternoon laugh.
That said, anyone who thinks the experience at Husky Stadium or CenturyLink for a Seahawks game is any better is likely fooling themselves.
