1. A reliable source confirmed that Renee Erickson’s Barnacle, the much-anticipated apertivo bar adjacent to The Walrus and the Carpenter, had a soft opening this weekend. For more information, visit their website or check out their Facebook page.

2. Hello, sugar rush. Sweets from Theo Chocolate, a cakelet decoration station and a cupcake and cotton candy mashup will be served during this Saturday’s release party for Jennifer Shea’s new recipe collection Trophy Cupcakes & Parties. Renee Erickson’s (Barnacle, above, and The Walrus and the Carpetner) Narwhal food truck will add a touch of savory, selling the likes of herring rillettes and fried oysters. The 21+ event kicks off at 8:00 pm at 1927 Events in downtown Seattle. At last check tickets were still available online.

3. A reminder that Cafe Presse is hosting a fundraiser for Seattle-based kids food/cooking non-profit Green Plate Special at 6:30 pm tomorrow (September 24th). Tickets cost $75, call 206-709-7674 to reserve a space.

4. Check out the SALO Filipino pop-up tonight at 6 p.m. at Olivar in Capitol Hill. The dinner series from Yana Gilbuena has already made the rounds in Brooklyn and California, and is trying to encourage more representation of Filipino cuisine here in the states.
