That was after he assaulted a couple people on a bus and then attacked two police officers.
The masterful Jonah Spangenthal-Lee has the story on the Seattle Police Department blotter blog:
Seattle police arrested a 35-year-old man in Queen Anne Thursday afternoon after he assaulted several people on a Metro bus, attacked two police officers, stole a patrol car and led police on a chase through Queen Anne.
Police are still trying to sort out the details of this incident, but it appears that just after 12:15 pm, SPD received a report that a man had attacked several people on a bus near Aurora Ave and Denny Way, and fled south on foot through the Battery Street tunnel.
Two patrol officers found the man inside the tunnel and attempted to stop him.
The man attacked the officers and then jumped into an SPD patrol car and took off.
Officers pursued the suspect to W. Olympic Place and 8th Ave. W, where the suspect crashed after running over a retaining wall.
Officers then took the 35-year-old suspect—who appeared to be very intoxicated—into custody.
Police have closed traffic on three streets around W Olympic Place, and there may be traffic delays in the area over the next three hours.
We’re still working to get more details and will update this post when we have more information.
