Of course, the beefy burgers are the main draw at Zippy's, the West Seattle hole-in-the-wall cafe. But even the most ardent carnivore should check out the fan-freaking-tastic black-bean burger. This beauty, made from a recipe created by the owner's wife, is cooked on the flat-top until it's slightly crispy on the outside but still creamy inside. Like the rest of the menu, it's dressed simply in iceberg lettuce, sliced tomatoes, pickles, and onions. This PETA-friendly patty is drizzled in the housemade secret sauce, which would make it a drip-down-the-wrist mess if not for the nifty bag it's served in. Don't forget to pick up a bottle of retro-cool soda while you're there. —Leslie Kelly 7573 S.W. Holden St., 763-7347
